Steinunn Arnbjörg Stefánsdóttir kynntist tónlistinni ung að aldri og sérílagi sellóinu. Vorið 2000 lauk hún einleikaraprófi frà Tónlistarskólanum í Reykjavík en kennari hennar þar var Gunnar Kvaran. Þá heldur hún áfram tónlistarnáminu í Frakklandi hjá Michel Strauss við konservatoríið i Boulogne-Billancourt. Þar kemur að hún gengst barokktónlistinni á hönd er hún hefur nám í barokksellóleik við Parísarkonservatoríið (CNSM) undir handleiðslu Christophe Coin og Bruno Cocset. Þar nemur hún einnig kammermúsik, gregorssöng og barokkdans. Hún lýkur þaðan prófi i barokksellóleik med láði vorið 2006.
Steinunn Arnbjörg hefur löngum tekið þátt i listviðburðum af ýmsum stærðum og gerðum: sinfóník, óperum, kammermúsik, einleik, dansi, spuna. Hún hefur leikið med sinfóniuhljómsveitum Íslands og Norðurlands sem og hljómsveit Íslensku Óperunnar og er stofnfélagi i Kammersveitinni Ísafold sem sérhæfir sig í tónlist 20. og 21. aldar.
Í Frakklandi leikur hún kontinuo i Barokkakademíunni i Ambronnay undir stjórn Williams Christie haustið 2005 og Evrópsku tónlistarakademíunni í Aix-en-Provence undir stjórn Kenneths Weiss sumarið 2006. Hùn leikur nú með ýmsum tónlistarhópum s.s. Ricercar Consort (Philippe Pierlot), les Basses Réunies (Bruno Cocset), l””Ensemble Pierre Robert (Frédéric Desenclos) og les Folies Françoises (Patrick Cohen-Akenine). Hùn hefur einnig tekið þátt i dans- og spunaverkum, m.a. með dansmeyjunum Önnu Richardsdóttur og Léu Pérat. Ásamt Brice Sailly og Mathurin Matharel myndar hún indí-rokkhópinn SÜSSER TROST.
Steinunn Arnbjörg Stefánsdóttir became acquainted with music at an early age, especially the cello. In the spring 2000 she graduated from the Reykjavik Conservatory where she studied with Gunnar Kvaran. After that she continued her studies in France with Michel Strauss at the Conservatory in Boulogne-Billancourt. After that she started studying the baroque cello at the Paris Conservatory (CNSM) with Christophe Coin and Bruno Cocset. There she also studied chamber music, Gregorian chant and baroque dance.
Steinunn Arnbjörg has for a long time participated in art projects of all sizes and sorts; symphony orchestras, operas, solo, dance and improvisation. She has played with the Icelandic Symphony Orchestra, the Symphony orchestra of Northern Iceland the orchestra of the Icelandic Opera and is a founding member of Isafold Chamber ensemble which specializes in 20th and 21st century music.
In france Steinunn played continuo at the Baroque Academy in Ambronnay under the direction of Williams Christie in autumn 2005 and in the European music academy in Aix-en-Provence with the director Kenneth Weiss in the summer 2006. Now she performs with numerous music ensembles such as Ricercar Consort (Philippe Pierlot), les Basses Réunies (Bruno Cocset), l”Ensemble Pierre Robert (Frédéric Desenclos) and les Folies Françoises (Patrick Cohen-Akenine). She has participated in dance and improvisation projects with artists such as Anna Richardsdottir and Léa Pérat. With Brice Sailly and Mathurin Matharel she forms the indy-rock ensemble SÜSSER TROST.
