Guðrún Óskarsdóttir hóf nám í semballeik hjá Helgu Ingólfsdóttur. Framhaldsnám stundaði hún hjá Anneke Uittenbosch við Sweelinck Conservatorium í Amsterdam, hjá Jesper Böje Christensen í Scola Cantorum í Basel og hjá Francoise Lengéllé í París.
Guðrún hefur leikið inn á hljómdiska og komið fram sem einleikari, meðleikari eða sem þáttttakandi í kammertónlist á fjölmörgum tónleikum á Íslandi, víða í Evrópu og í Japan.
Hún er meðlimur í kammerhópnum Nordic Affect og Bachsveitinni í Skálholti. Auk þess leikur hún reglulega með Caput-hópnum, Kammersveit Reykjavíkur og með Sinfóníuhljómsveit Íslands. Guðrún hefur einnig unnið í Íslensku Óperunni, Strengjaleikhúsinu og með Íslenska dansflokknum. Hún leikur jöfnum höndum gamla og nýja tónlist og hefur tekið þátt í frumflutningi fjölda verka.
Guðrún Óskarsdóttir studied the harpsichord with Helga Ingólfsdóttir. Later her teachers were Anneke Uittenbosch at the Sweelinck Conservatorium in Amsterdam, Jesper Böje Christensen at the Scola Cantorum in Basel and Francoise Lengéllé in Paris.
Guðrún is featured on numerous recordings and has appeared as a soloist, accompanist as well as chamber musician in numerous recitals and concerts in Iceland and elsewhere in Europe and in Japan. She is a member of Nordic Affect and the Bach ensemble of Skálholt. She plays regularly with the Caput new music ensemble, the Reykjavík Chamber Orchestra and the Icelandic Symphony Orchestra and has also performed with the Icelandic Opera and the Icelandic Dance company. She plays both baroque music and new music and has taken part in several first performances.
